Anybody play guitar? Good songs on acoustic?

Hey everyone, I've been playing guitar for a while now, but I really don't know any good songs to play. I know songs on electric as in metal and rock songs but I'm getting bored of that. So does anybody know any good songs I could learn to play on acoustic guitar? It's a Maton EM325C for anyone who's curious about what acoustic I have.

Learn some blues

get a slide

you will never be bored the blues will keep you busy

So Jim Croce was a fag?

"Time In A Bottle," or "New York's Not My Home." Wee bit complicated though if you're beginning. How 'bout "Listen To The Falling Rain" by Rodriquez? In Am/Dm/C/F.
Or good ole "Give A Little Bit," Supertramp.
Try getting your mitts into some Big Bill Broonzy, covered by Eric Clapton - "Hey Hey."
That'll make you want to smash the guitar in frustration the first few 100 times. Or even "Layla," the slow version.

EXACTLY what I was going to say :)

Clapton is great to learn and play! "Tears in Heaven" definitely is a good one, and you can even try to do acoustic renditions of your favorite "non-acoustic" songs too.

I disagree. Go for something real, Rock Band is just a game (although a fun game). Playing real guitar is where impressing people is at.

that was a joke, I'm referencing the Southpark episode about the Guitar Hero game.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'll have a go at those songs.

And a super-thanks to calpoon. Lol. Jks.

Get a Martin. Good starter for acoustic. Then save up for an Ovation.:2 cents:

Look up the chord diagrams and tablature on Google for these songs. They are fun to play and not too difficult:

Wish You Were Here--Pink Floyd
House Of The Rising Sun--The Animals
Ventura Highway--America
The Rain Song--Led Zeppelin
The Trees--RUSH
Lucky Man--Emerson Lake and Palmer
4 and 20--CSNY

I love my Maton. Wouldn't get a Martin and never heard of an Ovation. But yeah, thanks maildude for the post. I'll search them up too. Though I'm not gonna bother with House of the Rising Sun coz I'm not some puny beginner and the song's kinda boring.

The Killers' Mr. Brightside. Throw yourself in at the deep end and try playing those verse arpeggios at the 5th fret. It'll really stretch out those finger muscles.

This is my favorite site for guitar music. It has shitloads of free music in PDF format. You can find everything from beginning lessons to the most difficult pieces ever written, and everything in between. For the past few weeks I've been working on Tarrega's Capricho Árabe.

Bleahhh...

Get a Martin, and stick with a Martin.

I've learned a ton of things for acoustic guitar, not all of them originally for acoustic guitar.

One of my favorites to play, and it's a totally repetitive piece with great lyrics, is Social Distortion's "Ball and Chain"- easy to play and sing.

But then, I know a ton of John Denver, Beatles, etc. as well.
